1997 RIO TINTO CHAMPIONS
The second Rio Tinto Championships were held
at Port Hedland at Cooke Point. The East Kimberley could not attend,
so the remaining four teams battled it out and again the West
Kimberley ran out eventual winners, having one more win than the
two Pilbara teams. The Championships in Port Hedland were marked
by the emergence of Rio Tinto as major sponsors.
